On July 31, 2025, PLF Law Firm joined with InCorp Vietnam to speak at CanCham’s brand-new Can-Connect Webinar Series, featuring the timely topic: “HCMC’s MegaCity Reform: Implications for Foreign Businesses and Investments.”
The event welcomed more than 50 participants:
Mostly CEOs, lawyers, foreign-invested companies and international startups from multiple industries, all eager to understand how Vietnam’s ongoing reforms may shape their operations and future investments.
We were honored to contribute the presentation related to legal implications, while Mr. Jack Nguyen from InCorp Vietnam highlighted more about key taxation updates.
During the session:
- Mr. James Bui – our Managing Partner emphasized the importance of updating corporate documents, adopting the new electronic identification (eID) system, and staying alert to possible inconsistencies in regulatory implementation during this transitional phase.
- Mr. Jack Nguyen – CPA, CA of InCorp Vietnam clarified new policies such as Decree 168 on beneficial ownership, the upcoming VAT reform, and a progressive corporate income tax structure that could impact tax planning for foreign investors.
- Mr. Vinh Tran – our Partner joined the panel discussion and live Q&A. He offered additional perspectives on immigration procedures, particularly around work permits, and explained how businesses can navigate the investment requirements when setting up or expanding operations in Vietnam.
The session also addressed pressing concerns around the use of eID accounts, especially for legal representatives, and the upcoming removal of district-level administration in Ho Chi Minh City. Knowing that these changes will be applied to all businesses, it is a call for companies to quickly adopt eID and update the registered addresses across various documents, alongside working and closely with provincial authorities to prevent any delay of information.
